The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation recently announced a $130,000 grant for Better Together programs, but this is just a piece of the support the foundation has given Better Together and the families it serves.

The Schulze Family Foundation was the very first organization to financially provide support to Better Together, giving $50,000 in 2016. Each year since, the foundation has continued that support, contributing a total of $905,000 to date.

These dollars have helped Ramona have peace of mind that her girls were well cared for while she had surgery. Janel was able to secure housing, get a second job and buy a car while her girls stayed with a host family. Pierre was able to keep his teenage daughter safe through a difficult time.

“Better Together is great at producing outcomes, and as a foundation, that’s really important to us. That really resonates,” said Mary Beth Geier, Florida Director of the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation. “We’ve seen the numbers of children that they’ve served. We’ve seen the number of families who’ve been reunified. We’ve seen the number of folks who have had job interviews and then more importantly job placements, and all of that can be quantified, so we can really attest to the value that our funding does in terms of their organization.”

To date, with the Schulze Family Foundation support, we’ve served more than 9,000 children. Over 98% of families served through hostings and parent mentoring have stayed out of the state system. We’ve also helped some 39,000 job seekers connect with employment opportunities.

“We are beyond thankful to the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation for believing in our mission and supporting our organization each year,” said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. “The Foundation’s dedication to helping families and children in our local community is unwavering, and this grant will allow us to keep more families together.”

Created in 2004 by Best Buy Founder Dick Schulze, the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation awards grants to nonprofits with a focus on human and social services, education and health and medicine.
