Better Together, a nonprofit dedicated to families and children, has hired Dr. Standralyn Terry as executive director of its Northeast Florida region.

In this position, Terry will oversee and support the Better Families program in the Jacksonville area, encompassing Duval, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns counties. She is responsible for leading the continued development and growth of the program, as well as cultivating new relationships with donors, community partners, volunteers and churches.

Prior to working with Better Together, Terry served as an academic dean and nonprofit organizational development consultant. She strengthened programmatic and administrative infrastructure and established partnerships with community stakeholders, government, foundations and corporations to advance each mission.

“We are thrilled to have Standralyn join our team and drive our Northeast Florida region to help more families in need,” said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. “She is extremely committed to her faith and to bettering our community, and we know that she will change lives in the Jacksonville area and beyond.”

Better Together is made up of two programs – Better Families and Better Jobs – that help parents who are going through a hard time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. Established in Southwest Florida eight years ago, the nonprofit’s programming has rapidly expanded to reach families in 24 counties across the state. To date, the program has served over 9,000 children and kept 98% of children served through mentoring and hosting out of foster care, while helping nearly 39,000 job seekers find employment through church-based job fairs across 22 states.
