Better Together believes families can overcome a crisis when they have community support and resources. Our volunteers, partners and supporters provide that beacon of light.

This summer, while serving families through our Better Jobs and Better Families programs, we’re calling on volunteers to help us bring thousands of solar-powered lights to Southwest Florida neighborhoods hit hard by last year’s hurricanes.

The Be the Light initiative brings light to the homes and lives of people across Southwest Florida.

Our first Be the Light event is Saturday, July 8, in the Harlem Heights neighborhood of Fort Myers. We’ll meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Gladiolus Food Pantry, 10511 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33908, before taking the lights door-to-door. Parents are welcome to bring their children. Wear comfortable walking shoes! (Flyer below)

Together, we guide families through life’s storms every day.

Vetted and background-checked Host Families care for children in their home short term. Family Advocates light the way with guidance and encouragement. Job Coaches do the same for job seekers. Resource volunteers shine their light by bringing meals to families or delivering diapers or other needs.

Our partners are virtual lighthouses. Community partners are a beacon for families in need of our services, connecting the hurting to the helping. Our church partners provide many of those helpers, volunteers we depend on every day to come alongside families in their most desperate hour.

Every person connected to Better Together is a light in someone else’s life.

As we knock on each door, passing out solar lights as part of our Be the Light campaign, we hope to connect to families who can use our help preparing for the next storm of rain and wind, but also those who need a little help to overcome life’s storms, like a medical emergency, job loss, homelessness, addiction.

Join us! There is a way for every person to help:
