Have you heard of the toolbox analogy?

The idea is that we each have our own set of tools—skills and knowledge that help us navigate life’s journey. These tools often have a big impact on our successes and failures.

The reality is not everyone is given the same toolbox in life. Maybe you didn’t have parents who taught you how to balance a budget, for example, or how to prepare for a job interview.

That is where community comes in—offering the tools you might not have at the moment, but ones you need to get the job done.

Better Together strives to be the community that provides you the tools you need.

Our Better Jobs program helps job seekers find meaningful work through job fairs designed to help you succeed and job coaches who walk with you through the process.

At our job fairs, job seekers find an uplifting atmosphere and a community that wants to see you succeed. There’s resume assistance, community resources, friendship, encouragement and job coaches. Nearly half the job seekers at our job fairs get an offer on the spot.

Job coach volunteers are also available between job fairs.

If you’d like to connect with a job coach, fill out our Job Coach referral form. We will work to match you with someone who is ready to assist with whatever tools you may need.

We have a pop-up job fair coming up on July 14!
Better Together and the Lee County Homeless Coalition are partnering to host a Homeless Service Day & Second Chance Pop-up Job Fair at Grace Church in Fort Myers. Get a job and a Florida ID or renew your driver’s license. The job fair runs 9 to 11 a.m. and onsite licensing services are available 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register at bettertogetherus.org/events/popup-jf.

You’ll find more job fairs this fall in our online calendar.
