Brittany knew she needed help. She and her children had no home to call their own, and she had no one to care for the children while she went into labor. Not knowing where to turn, Brittany gathered her courage and reached out to the kids’ school. The school introduced her to Better Together. This is their story:

Hi, my name is Brittany Rose. I’m a makeup artist. I just graduated from school. I’m just a single mom.
Back in October, I was in transition and moving in another house. I had to move because the last house I was in, they were actually selling it, so I had to move out. And so we were homeless for about three weeks.
It was a struggle for us, because I had all of my kids, and we were going to basically like different relatives’ houses. And one time we, one day, we even stayed in a shelter.
It was overwhelming, not only because I was pregnant, because I had to carry all of my children and see my kids. They didn’t know that we were going through anything. They think it was like a vacation for them. But at nighttime, they didn’t see the tears.
So I reached out to my kids’ school and told them, pretty much what we were going through, and they introduced me to Better Together.
I met Miss Standra right before I had the baby. They were telling me that they had this hosting family that could watch your babies while you go on labor. And I never heard of that before, so I was like, oh, that sounds like a good idea. Like, you know, I don’t really want my kids separated or split up. So if they can take all of them in, I would love that, because my kids don’t really go nowhere. They just be around me. So when I met Miss Standra, she was a pretty nice lady. I’m big on energy, and so when I met her, I just like, oh yeah. I like, I like her. Like, I think she’ll, she’ll do right on with my children.
I talked to my kids, you know, to see that they were actually happy to be there. I feel like I can go on labor. I can actually stay a couple days if I need to as well, because she has them, and she kept calling and making sure I was okay as well. I really didn’t have to worry about nothing, because they was there. As soon as I was about to fall, they was back there to lift me up again.
This has been a great impact in my life. I don’t think I would be who I am right now, if I didn’t meet Better Together. I definitely feel like more people in our community should know about you guys.
