At 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Linda Joyce Dixon was on her knees praying.
She thanked Jesus for being Jesus. She thanked him for being her bright and morning star.
A few hours later, Linda made her way to Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Lakeland to pray some more.
Sitting in the prayer room, Dixon welcomed job seekers who voluntarily joined her before meeting employers at the Better Together job fair the church hosted.
“I know you’re a good God, an on-time God, a right-now God,” prayed Linda, who learned to pray from her late mother, Bernice West.
“Go in there believing this morning. Go in there knowing. Go in there and get that job in Jesus’ name,” she told job seekers.
For three hours, Linda prayed for nearly all of the 339 job seekers. Many of whom had second interviews scheduled, received job offers, and felt the love of community and Christ.
Amen.
