A mother’s restoration

Bryanna left a fire station in Bradenton, hurting.

Leaving her son, Jojo, with the firefighters infused her steps with pain that scars souls.

She would face her hardships alone. Jojo was safe, and that’s all that mattered.

After a few hours, the pain was too much. Bryanna called HCA Blake Hospital, where the firefighters took Jojo. She shared her story and asked for Jojo back.

Normally, HCA would call law enforcement or the Department of Children and Families, but because Bryanna had taken such excellent care of Jojo, they gave him back and immediately connected her to Better Together.

Within an hour, family support manager Jessica Braemer was at Bryanna’s home. Jessica brought food, diapers, and a heart determined to help. Over the coming days, Jessica connected Bryanna to a mentor and to Anne and Luke Stockeland, who volunteered to keep Jojo during the day while Bryanna worked.

With support and friendship from the Stockeland family, her church, and Better Together, Bryanna overcame the hardships that led her to the fire station.

The steps Bryanna takes now are infused with love that heals souls.
