Do you recall us telling you about Jenn Downes, a Better Together host mom, speaking before Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis, U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds and other community leaders?

We have great news!

Thanks to the Florida Disaster Fund, a Home Depot truck delivered shiny new appliances to her home in Southwest Florida.

The Downes were accustomed to being the helpers, taking children into their home while their parents got back on their feet. Then Hurricane Ian hit September 28, 2022.

A foot of flood water inundated their home, which meant having to gut the house and toss out most of their belongings. They had the gut-wrenching chore of hauling their things to the curb, even most of kids’ toys.

With the help of the community, they are recovering. The drywall is in. The floors nearly done. And now appliances. Soon, Jenn and her family will be able to move back into the house and make it a home again.

We thank all who donated to the fund and contributed in so many ways to help families impacted by the storm. Thank you!
