Virtual Family Care Advocate Training

October 27, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Come and learn more about Better Together and becoming a Family Care Advocate from the comfort of your own home!

A Family Care Advocate serves as a liaison between the birth parents and the Host Family, ensuring that children have everything they need to feel safe and loved during the hosting experience. Advocates help parents get back on track and ready to resume caring for their kids. Advocates meet with parents weekly either in person or virtually to help them connect with resources and work through their short term crisis. As an advocate, you have an incredible opportunity to help strengthen parents and keep children out of the foster care system. The average hosting is 41 days, and a volunteer will spend an average of 3-4 hours a week working with parents.

If you are interested in moving forward as a volunteer, the second hour of the training is required.

Dawson is an exciting addition to the Better Together Team. Since graduating college in 2015 from Florida Gulf Coast University with his bachelor’s degree in Business Management he has managed to create a successful career for himself as a self-employed freelance videographer/photographer. He has recently relocated back to his hometown in SWFL and is excited to join the team as the Creative Director to help us tell the Better Together story. Dawson is passionate about telling stories through a creative lens, especially when it comes to seeing families stay together and for individuals to thrive and become the best version of themselves. When Dawson is not in the office he likes to hang out with his friends, workout, and watch sports.
