Help families impacted by hurricanes

Doing Good Together in Northeast Florida

What a fabulous night! Volunteers, donors, and church and community partners joined us for the Doing Good Together reception Friday, May 5, at The Church of Eleven22 in Jacksonville.

The event is our way of saying thank you to all who play a role in our mission. Each supporter is worth more than gold to us and our families. Some have hosted a child in a safe environment while the parents work to stabilize their family. Some have been an advocate for someone in crisis, an ear to listen, experience to pull from. Some gather supplies and resources. Some help job seekers connect to employment. You give your time or money. You give your prayer.

Every year at our receptions, we recognize supporters who have gone above and beyond to help families.  The 2023 honorees are:

Host Family of the Year

The Heflin Family

The Heflin family says yes every time a child is in need. They open their home to caring for children at every opportunity. Even the kids step up, welcoming in the incoming children and showing patience throughout the hosting.

Mentor of the Year

Brittany Lauren

Brittany is an example of what it means to encourage one another and build each other up. When a mom who had no support system went into labor, Brittany held her hand through every contraction. She has mentored multiple parents and is a gifted sounding board for those who need someone in their corner.

Church Partner of the Year

Bold City Church

Led by Pastor Jason Masters, Bold City Church has linked arms with Better Together since we first started in Northeast Florida. They have provided last-minute supplies for families, loaded up moving trucks, prayed over families and connected them to people who support them. They also support Better Together financially.

Community Partner of the Year

First Coast Women’s Services

The organization is a pillar community partner, referring families to Better Together and working hard to provide for families in need.

Department of Children and Families Partner of the Year

Jessica Currey

Jessica is dedicated to serving and loving families, and she has been invaluable in connecting Better Together to community resources and partners who work together to help families in the community.

Doug Campbell Generosity Award

Richard and Susan Cirucci

The Ciruccis are not only generous donors to Better Together, but they serve with their time and expertise as well. Rick and Susan first began serving as a host family, and Rick serves on our community advisory board.

Thank you to our generous sponsors, MDH Jax Inc and Cape House.
