Better Together has been named Nonprofit Rising Organization of the Year by the Cape Coral Community Foundation at the fourth annual Excellence in Nonprofit Performance Yearly (ENPY) Awards.
As Nonprofit Rising Organization, Better Together also received a $750 grant from the Cape Coral Community Foundation. The funds will support Better Together in its efforts to come alongside families facing unimaginable challenges, offering them a dignifying, voluntary option to improve their situations and avoid the heartache of foster care.
Each year, the ENPY Awards recognizes the efforts of Southwest Florida nonprofits and the accomplishments of nonprofit leaders. The Nonprofit Rising Organization award honors a nonprofit that has been in business for less than five years. Additionally, the organization must achieve stellar results and serve as a model for excellence in the nonprofit sector. A panel of impartial, non-local judges selected Better Together as this year’s honoree.
Better Together builds lasting support systems that help families cope with hardships – job loss, substance abuse, homelessness and even jail time – and ensures that children are cared for in a safe home until the family can be reunited. The organization provides a voluntary and preventive alternative to foster care through its “Better Families” program. The program has served more than 2,500 children and kept 98% of them out of the foster care system. Additionally, Better Together’s “Better Jobs” program has helped nearly 28,000 job seekers find employment through church-based job fairs. Programs are 100% privately funded and community-driven, implemented by faith-based organizations and a caring volunteer force.
