We were contacted by Camelot Care to assist a mother by hosting 2 of her 3 children.
Alisha has one medically-needy child that she will not let out of her sight. She has a good paying job and her children attend daycare. She was recently evicted from her home due to having withdrawn her rent in cash, leaving it in her car when her car was broken into and the money being stolen. She asked for an extension on her rent but the landlord refused and in turn, evicted her.
Her plan was to save money in order to get into a place of her own but she needed a timely solution. Having no other option she had to rent a room from a stranger on Craig’s list. She told us that she has woken up to this man staring at her and the children while they slept and grew very uncomfortable with having her children there.
The Kellenberger family stepped up to host and after meeting Alisha and hearing her story, they decided to open up their home to Alisha AND her 3 children so that she could save up money quicker and get into her own place. Alisha is extremely motivated to meet her goals and can now do so in an environment where both her and her kids can feel safe and loved.
